What is Trauma-Focused Therapy?

Trauma-focused therapy is a specific approach to treatment that recognizes and emphasizes how traumatic experiences impact a person’s mental, behavioral, emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being.  The purpose of this therapy is to offer skills and strategies to assist the client to better understand, cope with, and process emotions and memories tied to traumatic events.  This can help the client create a healthier and more adaptive meaning of the experience that took place.
